still sick

i've been very helpful with the laundry lately. 

today mommy got 2 calls from daycare - once around 2:00 saying i had a small fever and only wanted milk (which is rare - i usually love table food), and another just before she left saying i had a fever of 101. :( she is hoping it's just my ears acting up.

daddy was also supposed to leave for a trip today, but he didn't. there is a blizzard and ice and winter advisory forecasted for this week. so tomorrow morning i get to stay home with daddy and visit the doctor again. then mommy will come home and keep me company.

just can't kick those ear infections! :(

today i woke up with a temp of 100.2. i went to the store with mommy and then took a nap on the way home. i was allowed to play with less clothes on, since i was so warm.

Then mommy went to get her hairs did and i chilled with daddy. when mommy got back my temp was up to 102.9 (!) so daddy had called the urgent care and was waiting for an appointment.

We went in around 7 and the doctor said that my right ear (the last one that was infected) was still a tiny bit red (like it was healing), but the left ear was dull, red, and looked a little puffy. so now i have yet another ear infection. mommy asked if they can do amox more for 10 days, since it seems like 10 days is almost enough. instead, the doctor gave me some azithromycin. we are all crossing our fingers. if it weren't for my fever mommy and daddy wouldn't have taken me in - i'm such a good baby! the doctor also mentioned they could take me to a baby chiro to adjust the muscles around the eustacian tubes (she called mommy and daddy "crunchy"). they're gonna think about that one...

new foods

since dr. s. said i can have lots more foods, mommy is trying some new stuff. this weekend i had some pancakes, and tonight mommy fed me some of a nutrigrain bar. i do have to say the pancakes were rather dry, but i made the same face as usual for the nutrigrain bar, which mommy says means i like it ;) i'm a texture guy - i move food all around in my mouth and make lots of faces.

guess what i can do!

i've been practicing taking a few steps every now and then...but today i took a lot in a row. that's right - i'm officially walking!!!

grandma came to visit while mommy and daddy went to the holiday party for mommy's work. i had fun showing her all of my fun new things i can do. and all the things my toys do - like how the alligator eats my blocks!

it was a lot of work.

skinny mini 10-month-old

today i had my 9-mo check-up (yes, my doctor is that popular, this is the soonest after 9-mo that we could get in!). i am doing pretty well, but dr. S. said i could stand to gain a little weight. i am 19.2 oz (16.42%) and 29.5" long/tall (73.94%). my head is 45.2 cm (35.41%).

the good news is i didn't have to get any shots today!

mommy said i don't eat very much in a sitting. so doc said we could try some cereal at night and introducing lots of new foods (not all at once, of course). so mommy and daddy are going to try lots of new stuff at home so i will pig out at daycare :)

here i am trying some peach-flavored yogurt melts. i'm not a fan - can you tell?

Mommy also made sure to tell Dr. S. that i don't sit still much...i like to do laps on my car. most of the time i push it, but sometimes i like to sit and just bounce and make noise.

tomorrow i turn 10 months old!! i recently learned how to...
* escape the living room barricades (time to get that stair gate!)

* open the toilet (!) - this has only happened once so far
* stand on my own

* make it up the stairs in record time-and i'm quiet about it (i'll be halfway up before anyone notices i'm gone!)

* play with wrigley and her toys-i'm good at tug-o-war!

* turn off the lights (still working on turning them on)
* knock on the door

* get into cabinets and drawers

 






i'm also starting to play with ordinary household supplies - like this amazon box. :)

i saw grandma!

daddy had to go to arizona for a few days, so grandma came to help mommy out. i did lots of little new things:

* started waving with my hand

* made new noises - put some old ones together, like "ba" and the motorboat

* getting more brave at taking that first step

* saying dad (and emphasizing the "D")

* opened the lid on the potty!

i love mommy and daddy's new camera, and seeing myself in pictures. so i let grandma take a picture of me and mommy, and insisted on checking it out afterwards.

grandma gave me some mesh popsicles for christmas. i love 'em - especially when they have apples inside! (do you notice i still have my killer eyelashes?)

i also showed grandma my amazing strength and tired to find a new place for my highchair - nowhere seemed quite right.

i'm starting to refuse some of my foods mommy thought i liked - like oatmeal. the daycare said maybe i'm getting sick of it? so mommy tried some peaches tonight. i wasn't sure what to think of it. i was also kind of tired, and cranky, so she's not going to give up on those quite yet.

another ear infection

yesterday we went back to the doctor's office. mommy made an appointment because she didn't think it was a good idea to have a little walrus as a friend. i got to see Dr. S! the doctor mentioned nothing of the croup (which was the reason for the appointment), but she said i have...you guessed it - another ear infection. she said she couldn't tell if it was the end or the beginning. did you know that 80% of ear infections clear on their own? but the other 20% have a chance of getting into the brain, so they never want to take those odds.

This time we're back on 5 mL 2x a day (same as the very first ear infection i had - which seemed to clear up fine). this is a little more than the last one i had, but we're not exactly sure that one cleared up... so far i'm taking the medicine well - i suck it right out of the syringe. :)

good sleep

friday night i slept very well...i went to bed around 9 and then woke up to eat at midnight. then i slept until about 7am! poor mommy didn't get to enjoy it, though - she woke up with a stomach bug at 530 and has been lazy all day.

last night i slept even better - from 9 until 7 or so!! and daddy got up with me at 11:30 and 3, and only had to give me my pacifier and i was happy. then when i was up at 7, i babbled for a half hour or so before i asked to get out of my crib. i've been pretty happy all day, as long as mommy or daddy is holding me or i'm in a lap. otherwise i'm kinda whiny :( finally mommy gave me some orajel and i calmed down enough for a nap - it's gotta be those pesky teeth again. yesterday mommy and daddy finally bought their christmas present to each other - a nice camera. check out some of the fun pictures they've been playing around with.

guess where i went today

last night i gave mommy and daddy a workout. i am working on my top teeth, and decided that in addition to waking up to eat every 4 hours, i'd also wake up in the middle and ask for some more medicine. so i was up every other hours between 9 and 6. I've been loving my teething toys lately. This one is fun because it looks like a dragonfly.

I also like to eat ice. it makes my gums feel a lot better.

today i had to go to the doctor again. my eye has been puffy and leaking some stuff the past few days. the daycare called mommy at lunch time after my nap and said it looked extra puffy and red. so mommy took me to see dr. B. again (he is the same one i saw for my ear infection and when i had a fever). he said i look okay - he didn't want to give me any medicine, though, because my eye wasn't pink and my inner eye lid wasn't super red. he told mommy it just looks like something irritated it, and i just keep rubbing it, so it stays red and puffy. when i don't touch it, it's fine.

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year! Last night mommy and daddy said it was time to celebrate for the new year. So first i showed mommy how to decorate with homemade streamers (toilet paper). i learned how to get it off the holder on the wall.

it's pretty easy - i could show you sometime. i do the same thing with paper towels if they're left on the floor.

i also wanted to partake in the celebration later on, so after mommy put me to sleep at 9, i woke up at 11, 12, 2, maybe 4 (mommy can't remember) and 6. of course i didn't make things easy - one time i wanted some tylenol - the next round of teeth are coming in! the next time i wanted to eat. and back and forth. i love mommy, though - she didn't complain - just gave me lots of hugs :)
