last post before our trip!

here are a few pictures from a week or so ago:
mommy even put up a giraffe "mosaic" in my room. i love it!
And, here's our veggies from this week! 3 corn cobs, 2 muskmelon, 1 watermelon, 5# taters, 2 tiny leeks, bag of 'maters, 2 large onions, 2 cukes, 4 zukes, 1 pt sm 'maters, 1 funny eggplant w/ a nose, 1 jalapeƱo, 1 bulb garlic, 1 sm head broccoli!

So daddy's work decided to send him on a trip 1 week before we leave on our big vacation. He left last thursday, and comes back tonight. This trip took him to LA, and usually when he gets back, i am in bed and don't get to see him until the next morning.

But i did get a surprise this weekend - Grandma came to visit! Mommy was very happy because Grandma helped keep me occupied and helped mommy get stuff done for the trip - lots of shopping, cooking (of CSA veggies!) and other items crossed off the before-the-trip list.

Tonight before i went to bed i had some abeebee (applesauce). it is yummy!

Lots of nummy veggies!

we've been busy lately - mommy has been trying to figure out what to do with all of the veggies we get from our CSA. a few days ago she made some zucchini basil muffins, and i like the more than bananas!
Last week we got 3 melons, broccoli, green onions, green peppers, white onions, 8 cobs of corn, 4 cucumbers, 4 zucchini/summer squash, green beans, an eggplant and some basil.
This week (last night) we got zucchini, beets, corn, carrots, 3 melons, cucumbers, red cabbage, cherry tomatoes, big tomatoes, garlic and onions!

i've also been very independent. When daddy asks me to change my diaper, i say "NO" and run away (while giggling, of course); and when anyone asks if they can help me with my spoon, i say "NO" and take it out of their reach.

The other day, I showed mommy and daddy my new trick - i push my lego bin over to the ottoman and climb on top. I'm also able to get down off the couch all by myself. The other thing i like to do lately is "nest" - i take a blanket, put stuff on top and cover it all up. then i lay on top of it!

We're also finalizing all of our plans to go on our trip to Europe. This week we received our Eurail passes.

a fun video for you

here's a fun video of my evening activities - this is usually how i am between bath and bed time :)

mommy had some yummy veggies to use up, so we made salmon and zucchini packets tonight. she decided to add some carrots, and that was a good choice, because i really liked the zucchini, and didn't leave any for her :)

yummy corn

i told you there'd be a picture of me trying to climb the stove again. here you go!

last week we got some sweet corn from our CSA - 6 yummy cobs! i love corn!
Here i am showing you where all the corn goes. :)

We also got 2 green peppers, 1 chinese eggplant (which mommy made some yummy parmesan with - i loved it!), 6 MORE zucchini, 5 MORE cucumbers, another head of lettuce, a pint of cherry tomatoes, lots more carrots and green beans, and a head of garlic.
have i told you yet that i can climb up on top the dining table?
this weekend we went to chicago to see lots of family. saturday i got to stay home with grandma and grandpa saillard while mommy and daddy went to see the last harry potter movie. when they got home i showed grandma and grandpa how much i like to eat corn on the cob.

on sunday i got to see lots more people, and ate some more yummy food. my great aunt Laura and great uncles Jim and bob came, aunt Tracy and uncle Dave, and Lauren and Vince came too. i was a little shy, but i warmed up to everyone and told them lots of stories, and showed them how well i can throw my new ball from Aunt Laura.

15 month check-up and some more veggies

I've been getting a little better at daycare dropoff, but I still do not want mommy to leave. Last night I had my 15-mo checkup with Dr. S. she "warned" mommy and daddy that i don't have to wait until i'm 2 to throw a tantrum. they said they've noticed that. Dr. S. said to just let me be and throw my fit ;) as long as i'm safe, of course - i have to express myself somehow :)

Here are my stats:
30.75" long/tall (39.31%)
22# 2oz (17.55%)
mommy also had some very important questions – like why I don’t sleep very well at night, even though i'm eating pretty well… She told the doctor that Monday this week I only to a 45 min nap and still woke up twice after being put to bed. Dr. S said that daddy should try going in my room first and try to comfort me.

Last night I only woke up at 2. Daddy tried to comfort me, but I really just wanted mommy. She waited a while to see if I would give in to daddy, but I was insistent. I tried to tell mommy I wanted some snacks and she said no. :( then she sat with me. I was happy, but wide awake. Eventually mommy laid me in my crib, but I had to keep checking to see if she was still there. I fell asleep about a half hour later, and slept until 7am.

I've also been a goofball lately. Look at the new shoes i have, and the alternative door i made for my car.

The CSA veggies we got this week were Broccoli, Cilantro, Garlic Scapes, Head Lettuce (Red Leaf), Kale (Red Russian), Kohlrabi, Salad Mix, Salad Turnips, Scallions, Sugar Snap Peas, Spinach, Strawberries, and Zucchini.

Lots of veggies from our Community Supported Agriculture farm

we haven't even finished the lettuces from last week's CSA box, and yesterday we got: 2 kohlrabi, 3 turnips, 5 radishes, a small bunch of green onions, 4 garlic scapes, 1 giant bag of spinach, 1 giant head of romaine lettuce, rainbow chard, 1 giant bok choy, 1/2 (giant) bag of salad mix, and some mustard greens! mommy will be very busy getting all these veggies ready to eat! Here's a pic of just some of these yummies.

tonight i gave mommy and daddy a hard time. i was a bit on edge and didn't want to do anything they suggested. i finally decided to sit on mommy's lap while she had some supper and asked if i could have some. mommy made eggs with kale and spinach from the CSA. there is LOTS to use up! i didn't go to bed until 8:45 or so, and was so tired when i sat with mommy to look at a book, i fell asleep in minutes.

it hasn't been long...

But i sure have lots to tell and show you! Here are some pictures from the last week.

In the first one i am fetching a duck in swim class. i love to chase the duckies! The next one we're working on my jumping. i like when daddy helps me jump off the edge of the pool and into the water.

Here i am trying to fit where wine bottles should go...mommy and daddy had to remove the wine bottle holder as soon as i started walking.
and here i am at the elementary school playground with mommy and daddy. i really liked going down the slide.

who needs toys when you have kitchen utensils and the garbage can?

this weekend grandma came to visit. daddy had a work trip to new york and left early saturday morning. mommy and i went to the farmer's market, and then when grandma got here, we went to a makeup swim class, since i'll miss my last one when mommy and i go to new york. That's right - i'm going too!! i am very excited, and mommy is nervous. we leave this evening on the plane...and hopefully everything will go well. :)

some new developments for me:
* i ask for my nuk by pointing to my mouth, and then if i don't know where it is, i put my hands up and shrug (see above)
* i love to say bye. although, i do say it with a bit of a southern accent.
* i love to give hugs and kisses (yes, still)
* i am coming out of my shell a bit
* i have learned how to shriek. mommy and daddy are excited about this one (ok, not really).
* i love to get into trouble!
* i have been visiting the older kids at daycare lately, they are thinking of moving me up perhaps in a few weeks...

This spring we paid Primrose Community Farm a bunch of money, and every week they bring LOTS of yummy veggies to daddy's work for us to pick up. We were very lucky to have our health insurance reimburse us for almost half of what we paid (because we "promise" to eat so healthy!). It was silly not to do it, because all the veggies are organic (not to mention yummy)!

This week mommy and i had to venture to daddy's work to pick up all the veggies. We got:
  • Arugula, Bok Choi, Broccoli, Garlic Scapes, Head Red Butterhead Lettuce, Red Russian Kale, Radish, Salad Mix, Salad Turnips and Spinach
Stay tuned for my updates from the Big Apple!
