a good start to the week

A lot's happened since the last post. It was Mommy's and Mimi Jan's birthday, Mimi Tammie came to see me, and it was Easter!

We went down to Chicago a few weeks ago, and surprised Mimi Jan with a birthday party. There were lots of people, many of whom I didn't know, so I stayed close to Mommy and Daddy...and occupied myself with the phone camera.

We had an Easter egg hunt around the house outside. It was a little windy.

And, this was the one that I pushed down the pipe! We got to teach daddy a little bit about plumbing ;) and he did a good job fixing the pipe after he and mommy fished out the egg from by the heater (that would not have smelled good!).
Then we went to the zoo. The animals were all enjoying their Easter baskets and eggs!

Daddy had a work trip, so Mimi came to visit, and I took her out to eat. We played with my stickers while we waited for our food.
I also was very good and helped mommy with some chores. :)
And then when daddy got back, we went to eat at Michael's with some friends. I had to help daddy finish his (chocolate) shake.

Mommy and daddy started to give me 1 M&M each time I do my duty on the potty. I had a good start to this week - Monday evening I went to sit on the potty and got two M&Ms. I also used the big boy potty at school three times! Then, Tuesday right when we were getting ready to go out the door to work and school, I told Mommy I was going poopy. So she helped me sit on the potty, and I got another M&M!

I'm starting to talk even more, if that's possible to believe. Some of my favorite phrases are:
* Not yet
* Okay

Peek a boo!

Hi Everyone!
Sorry we've been a bit lazy on the blog lately. We've just been so busy! I wanted to show you some more fun photos, so here's a short post.

As you probably remember, Mommy had a work trip mid-March (over my birthday!), and I stayed home with Daddy. We had lots of fun together, and he took me out for some gelato on my birthday. Don't worry, I shared some with him ;)
 When Mommy got back, we had supper at a Japanese restaurant. I requested to sit right by the fish. :)

This week was my real birthday. Mommy was out of town for a work meeting, so we celebrated a few weeks ago. I bugged her enough, so here are some photos from my party!

My mimi made me this fun hat and shirt to match my Sesame Street theme! I love them :)

Then, it was time for cake. I wasn't sure what to think of the Elmo cupcake mommy gave me. First I ate a marshmallow eye, then I dug in. :)

I got a tricycle, a fun Super-K cape, and a slide (among many other fun gifts)!

But I seemed to have even more fun with the boxes!

Look at the fun character pom poms mommy and mimi made! I loved to look at them long after the party was done :)

Thanks for coming to my party!

Good big-boy day

Yesterday I had a good day. I spent the whole day with the peacocks, the next group up. I'm going to move up on my birthday! We went for a really long walk to see if we could see the fire trucks.

For lunch I drank out of an open cup and didn't spill, and ate lots of grapes. I also got to try using the potty 3 times, and peed once!

When mommy picked me up we went to the library to pick up a book for daddy. We tried to use the automatic door button, but it was broken.

For bath time I was being a bit wild, but was really good after I put some water outside the tub-mommy told me we were all done, and I stepped right out with no fighting. I got my jammies on and sat with mommy and fell right asleep.

Today mommy brought me home some cool sunglasses. Whaddya think?

4 teeth at once!

This weekend Mimi thought she saw a tooth coming through. Monday I was extra cranky, so mommy did another check. She is pretty sure she saw the other 3 incisors coming through! No wonder I was cranky and tired! I even went to bed before 7:00 pm. I also could have been making up for the night before, because I stayed up until 9:30!

It doesn't seem to be affecting me tonight - check out my new skill :)

Sick (again), and lots of new words

Thursday I made daycare call mommy. My eye was getting all goopy and turning a little bit pink. So mommy came to pick me up, and then later on that evening we went to the doctor. She did say I had the start of pink eye, so she gave mommy some ointment to put on my eye 3 times a day. Needless to say, I gave mommy and daddy a hard time, and made both of them take part in the process. But, luckily, we only had to do it on Friday and the weekend. Here I am just hanging out, watching Elmo. I also got hot, so i decided to take all my clothes off...

My Mimi Tammie also came to visit me this weekend. She brought me a shovel my own size. So we went outside and played with it. I made her read lots of books with me, and gave her lots of cuddles.

I'm starting to put lots more words together, and almost speak in complete sentences. I am very good at narrating what's going on. I also talk about myself an awful lot. :) Here are some of my favorites phrases and items-of-know:
* Where'd Elmo go?
* Daiden more rice - I love rice, and am still having problems with my Ks.
* Daddy, ligley walk outdide
* I can tell you who most of the monsters are on Sesame Street. Though, the ones that need no prompting include Abby, Elmo, Ernie, and Cookie Monster. And sometimes Snuffy (which comes out as "Nuh-my")
* I can say most of my classmates' names pretty clear: Aly, Dade (Cade), Dendon (Trenton), Lala (Elissa, my teacher), Boggy (Peggy, my teacher). the others have a few more syllables or harder letters to say.
* Bukky off (T.V. off - who knows where bukky came from - and no, not Bucky Badger)
* Bankie - blanket
* Mitt - Mittens
* Daiden all done milk; Daiden all done insert food here - Mommy and Daddy are very happy I've started telling them I'm done, instead of just throwing stuff on the floor...which I still do occasionally, when they're not fast enough.
* Choo choo up down, wheeeee - my choo choo train has a hill and goes up and down. When it goes down, I hear the people riding inside say "wheeee" :)

I've gotten pretty good at putting toys away before taking a new one out. Mommy and Daddy usually try to reinforce this when I want to play with my train and my blocks, since there are so many pieces to those.

Sick and Workin' for a livin'

Friday i had a fever of 103, and had to go home early from daycare. But you wouldn't know it this weekend! Aside from my eyes looking like i didn't feel well, i sure acted like my normal, crazy self :) I think it's because I passed it on to mommy. She wasn't feeling well the rest of the weekend. Needless to say, we didn't do much - just ran a few errands and hung out. I played with my choo choo train a lot. I love to make it go up and down the hills on the track.

Before I got sick, though, mommy and daddy thought it was time that I start helping out around the house to earn my keep.

My first vacation from mommy and daddy

The day after Christmas, mommy and daddy left Wrigley and me with Mimi and Papa in Decorah. They drove all the way home for a quick stop and then kept driving to see my other Mimi and Papa in Mt. Prospect. They had a morning (very early) flight to the Big Apple the next day. I missed them, but Mimi and Papa sent updates and I talked to them on the phone a lot. :)

Above I am talking to mommy and daddy on the phone, having a snack of chips and guacamole, and hanging out with papa just before bed time.

Well, after spending a week with Mimi and Papa, I didn't want to go to daycare. I screamed as loud as i could, but mommy still left. I forgot about her a few minutes later ;) I did that every day, but each day got a little better.

Mommy and daddy had lots of fun in New York. The Cyclones lost, but they met up with lots of friends from their college. They also saw Elmo a lot!

Since their trip, I have been talking a LOT and can put a few words together to sort of form a sentence! Here's an update:
* birdie (also for Big Bird)
* Abby (from Sesame Street)
* 'po (hippo)
* nobody (when mommy and daddy tell Wrigley "nobody is there")
* "up and down" (for my train)
* ____ 'ome ("Daddy's home!" "Mimi's home!" "Papa's home")
* loo loo / choo choo
