Sick (again), and lots of new words

Thursday I made daycare call mommy. My eye was getting all goopy and turning a little bit pink. So mommy came to pick me up, and then later on that evening we went to the doctor. She did say I had the start of pink eye, so she gave mommy some ointment to put on my eye 3 times a day. Needless to say, I gave mommy and daddy a hard time, and made both of them take part in the process. But, luckily, we only had to do it on Friday and the weekend. Here I am just hanging out, watching Elmo. I also got hot, so i decided to take all my clothes off...

My Mimi Tammie also came to visit me this weekend. She brought me a shovel my own size. So we went outside and played with it. I made her read lots of books with me, and gave her lots of cuddles.

I'm starting to put lots more words together, and almost speak in complete sentences. I am very good at narrating what's going on. I also talk about myself an awful lot. :) Here are some of my favorites phrases and items-of-know:
* Where'd Elmo go?
* Daiden more rice - I love rice, and am still having problems with my Ks.
* Daddy, ligley walk outdide
* I can tell you who most of the monsters are on Sesame Street. Though, the ones that need no prompting include Abby, Elmo, Ernie, and Cookie Monster. And sometimes Snuffy (which comes out as "Nuh-my")
* I can say most of my classmates' names pretty clear: Aly, Dade (Cade), Dendon (Trenton), Lala (Elissa, my teacher), Boggy (Peggy, my teacher). the others have a few more syllables or harder letters to say.
* Bukky off (T.V. off - who knows where bukky came from - and no, not Bucky Badger)
* Bankie - blanket
* Mitt - Mittens
* Daiden all done milk; Daiden all done insert food here - Mommy and Daddy are very happy I've started telling them I'm done, instead of just throwing stuff on the floor...which I still do occasionally, when they're not fast enough.
* Choo choo up down, wheeeee - my choo choo train has a hill and goes up and down. When it goes down, I hear the people riding inside say "wheeee" :)

I've gotten pretty good at putting toys away before taking a new one out. Mommy and Daddy usually try to reinforce this when I want to play with my train and my blocks, since there are so many pieces to those.

Our day in Venice

Today we had another yummy breakfast at the B&B and then headed to the train station. We took the train to Venice at 10:30. I like riding the train, but I didn't last long on daddy's lap before I fell asleep. Below are some pictures from our short trip - you should be able to click on them to see them bigger.
The tower, some mosaic from St. Mark's duomo, and me enjoying some authentic pizza - Yum! This is when I started asking for some of mommy and daddy's tea, and I loved it!
 Me and mommy on the Rialto bridge above the grand canal, and me burning off some steam in an empty plaza.
A skinny (common) alleyway, the grand canal, and some local trains at the station, waiting for our train back to Ferrara.
 And here I am enjoying the train ride back. I even had my own seat!
For supper tonight, we ate at a pizzeria down the street from our B&B - Pizzeria Adelardi. Mommy had some yummy ravioli, but I really wanted some of daddy's pepperoni pizza - I helped myself.
Just before I went to bed, I got a tummyache. mommy and daddy are thinking it was from all the caffeine I had in the tea today! I'm not used to that much tea!

i had a day off

this weekend i had a fever of 102! it was on and off, and i didn't need tylenol all weekend. mommy and daddy still kept me home on monday. i hung out with mommy and showed her where all the goldfish really go.
then we went to the doctor. he checked me out and said my ears are a little red, but not bulging. my gums are definitely red. and my top teeth (#s 3 and 4) are on the verge of popping through! i did have a bit of a cold, so the combo of the cold and teeth is probably why i was fighting my fever for so long. i also wasn't very hungry...i liked mommy's milk, cow's milk and water, but not much in the way of solids... usually i like to eat my pouches, like the banana one i'm eating on my drive around the house. I also like to help wrigley transport her food around the house.

another doctor visit

mommy got a call from daycare today that i had a fever of 101 :( they also told her i had a bit of a rash on my neck and legs. of course, when mommy got me home, there was no rash. and then when we got to the doctor, my fever was already down to 99.6, without any medicine.

when we were waiting for the doctor, i told mommy i saw a book about ducks (duh) and was sad when mommy opened it to read to me and all i saw inside were mazes. :( i also got to weigh myself on the big-boy scale! i wasn't sure what to think. i weighed 21.2 lbs - with all my clothes on. not enough to make the scale turn on, but enough to register on the big boy scale.

since i was in there, mommy had them check my ears, and they were just a tiny bit pink. the doctor said the fever did not start from that... mommy thinks it started for my teeth, but they didn't notice it because they gave me enough tylenol yesterday (since i was so cranky) that it probably kept the fever at bay. i didn't have any medicine today, so it probably crept up.

when we got home, i felt a lot better. and when daddy got home i was even more better.
And even though i've been a bit under the weather, i still get into plenty of mischief. here's some proof.

sick day during a blizzard

today i stayed home with daddy and went to the doctor. i definitely kept busy. first i told daddy the towels were stored way too neatly.

then i showed him how we should store them...on the floor.

later in the morning daddy took me to the doctor, and they had to draw my blood. i didn't realize it until they were almost done, and i let them know they couldn't sneak that by me. but daddy had my nuk and i was fine :) then mommy came to see me at the doctor and take me home.

the doctor said my white blood cells are fine, but i might be a little anemic. she said that could be from being sick. she also said i should go see an ear/nose/throat doctor for my ears, and i should probably get my hearing checked, since i've had more than 3 ear infections in 6 months :(
when mommy and i got home i watched the snow blow around and explored the house - we have a blizzard warning for the next day!

still sick

i've been very helpful with the laundry lately.

today mommy got 2 calls from daycare - once around 2:00 saying i had a small fever and only wanted milk (which is rare - i usually love table food), and another just before she left saying i had a fever of 101. :( she is hoping it's just my ears acting up.

daddy was also supposed to leave for a trip today, but he didn't. there is a blizzard and ice and winter advisory forecasted for this week. so tomorrow morning i get to stay home with daddy and visit the doctor again. then mommy will come home and keep me company.

just can't kick those ear infections! :(

today i woke up with a temp of 100.2. i went to the store with mommy and then took a nap on the way home. i was allowed to play with less clothes on, since i was so warm.

Then mommy went to get her hairs did and i chilled with daddy. when mommy got back my temp was up to 102.9 (!) so daddy had called the urgent care and was waiting for an appointment.

We went in around 7 and the doctor said that my right ear (the last one that was infected) was still a tiny bit red (like it was healing), but the left ear was dull, red, and looked a little puffy. so now i have yet another ear infection. mommy asked if they can do amox more for 10 days, since it seems like 10 days is almost enough. instead, the doctor gave me some azithromycin. we are all crossing our fingers. if it weren't for my fever mommy and daddy wouldn't have taken me in - i'm such a good baby! the doctor also mentioned they could take me to a baby chiro to adjust the muscles around the eustacian tubes (she called mommy and daddy "crunchy"). they're gonna think about that one...

another ear infection

yesterday we went back to the doctor's office. mommy made an appointment because she didn't think it was a good idea to have a little walrus as a friend. i got to see Dr. S! the doctor mentioned nothing of the croup (which was the reason for the appointment), but she said i have...you guessed it - another ear infection. she said she couldn't tell if it was the end or the beginning. did you know that 80% of ear infections clear on their own? but the other 20% have a chance of getting into the brain, so they never want to take those odds.

This time we're back on 5 mL 2x a day (same as the very first ear infection i had - which seemed to clear up fine). this is a little more than the last one i had, but we're not exactly sure that one cleared up... so far i'm taking the medicine well - i suck it right out of the syringe. :)

back to the doctor

today i had to go to the doctor again. the daycare called and told mommy i was sounding "croupish" so she made an appt for me during the day. I got to see the same doctor as I saw on Sat. today, though, he had worse news - i have another ear infection :( but no croupe! he said the medicine will make my ears and nose drain into my chest, so that will make me sound icky. time for some more amoxicillan.

after some medicine i felt a little better and we played peek-a-boo again.

sick again

today i had to go to the urgent care doctor. last night i felt really warm - my tummy, hands and head. this morning i didn't sit long enough for mommy to take my temp, but it still went up to 100.4 before i squirmed away. i just wasn't happy!
the doctor got 100.2 with the ear-mometer. the doctor said i just have a virus and will probably feel icky for a few days. lucky for mommy and daddy this always happens on the weekend :)

i felt a little better after my nap. here is my picture with andy - 38 wks old.

oh, my aching ears

yesterday mommy got a call around noon from the daycare. they told her i was pulling at both of my ears when i was eating my beans for lunch. mommy had told them i got up 4 times the night before, so they suggested taking me in to the doctor. at 1:00 we went to urgent care. the doctor said i was so happy - my lungs sounded good, and my throat looked fine. but both of my ears were a little red. he said after my icky cold, i got a tiny ear infection. so he gave me some amoxicillian.

i took it really well last night, and then only got up once, at 2. i decided to give mommy and daddy a challenge this morning, though. it took them 10 minutes to give me a little dropperful of medicine.

today at daycare we went trick-or-treating. so mommy sent my costume. they told mommy i was super cute and everyone oohed and aahed at me. :) i brought home my candy to share.

SEVEN months old and sick :(

yesterday i had a bit of a fever at daycare and mommy almost had to come get me. i was .2 degrees away. but i took a nice, 3-hour-long nap, and had a 6-oz bottle! Then, when i got home, i ate some mommy milk AGAIN, just 2 hours later. last night, everyone in the house went to bed at 9:30, and i let them all sleep until 4:00.

today i did lots better at daycare. they told mommy my temp only got to the high 98s, and when mommy called, i'd already been sleeping for 2 hours. when mommy picked me up, she showed them how i can walk, and they said when they take me up to Kid Corner, where all the big kids play, they'll put me in a walker!

I even fell asleep while mommy was showing me how to make supper. she needs to work on her delivery.
And guess what today is.... I'm SEVEN months old (30 wks & 4 days)! here's my pictures! (forgive me, but i'm still a bit under the weather...)

another rough night

This week i worked on my crawling. as you can tell, i'm getting pretty quick!
last night i got sick again. (at least this time it was on the weekend!) and mommy and daddy know exactly why - it's my rice cereal. The reason it's the rice cereal, now that's what's confusing. they think it might be because mommy has made it thicker these past two times...and my tummy still isn't familiar with solids. i didn't eat as much this time, so i didn't throw up for as long. it was easier on us all! i got to sleep in my crib after mommy and daddy made sure i was okay, and even had some mommy milk, after my doc's recommendations last time (not the on-call doc). so, it wasn't as bad as last time, but still a rough night for most.

mommy had a haircut today and then exchanged some clothes for me (i'm growing so fast!). I stayed home with daddy - played and slept, played and slept. :) i am taking a break from crawling, though. i get around mostly by rolling. it's convenient enough, and i get where i want to be.

a rough couple days

wednesday night i started crawling just a little. I'm learning to get my body off the ground - but not all of it.
I had some more rice cereal, and later on came down with some kind of fast bug (either that or else it was something with the cereal - but i've had that before...so Mommy doesn't think and hopes it isn't that). i was feeling okay, but i definitely let mommy and daddy know when my tummy hurt - i whined and scrunched up, and then out it came. :( mommy felt so bad for me. they called the doctor and they said to keep me inclined, so even though i was done being sick around midnight, mommy and daddy took turns staying up with me. they took good care of me. and by morning i was fine and went back to daycare.

last night we made up for lost sleep - i slept for NINE hours, and mommy, daddy and wrigley all did the same!

Today i helped mommy get the mail. Luckily, she only let me hold the non-important stuff. I like to play with it just like Wrigley does.
