15 month check-up and some more veggies

I've been getting a little better at daycare dropoff, but I still do not want mommy to leave. Last night I had my 15-mo checkup with Dr. S. she "warned" mommy and daddy that i don't have to wait until i'm 2 to throw a tantrum. they said they've noticed that. Dr. S. said to just let me be and throw my fit ;) as long as i'm safe, of course - i have to express myself somehow :)

Here are my stats:

mommy also had some very important questions – like why I don’t sleep very well at night, even though i'm eating pretty well… She told the doctor that Monday this week I only to a 45 min nap and still woke up twice after being put to bed. Dr. S said that daddy should try going in my room first and try to comfort me.

 
Last night I only woke up at 2. Daddy tried to comfort me, but I really just wanted mommy. She waited a while to see if I would give in to daddy, but I was insistent. I tried to tell mommy I wanted some snacks and she said no. :( then she sat with me. I was happy, but wide awake. Eventually mommy laid me in my crib, but I had to keep checking to see if she was still there. I fell asleep about a half hour later, and slept until 7am.

I've also been a goofball lately. Look at the new shoes i have, and the alternative door i made for my car.

The CSA veggies we got this week were Broccoli, Cilantro, Garlic Scapes, Head Lettuce (Red Leaf), Kale (Red Russian), Kohlrabi, Salad Mix, Salad Turnips, Scallions, Sugar Snap Peas, Spinach, Strawberries, and Zucchini.

one year old brings lots of new adventures

i also found some new storage places for some of my things: the drawer for my nuk, and the buffet/side table shelf for my dump truck.

yesterday i had my 12-mo appointment. i had to get 3 shots and a blood draw for iron levels (standard at 12-mo appts). i was not happy at the time, but i got over it quickly.

i am 29.5" long (41.05%) and weigh 20 lbs, 6 oz (15.66%). my doctor said i can have any foods, as long as it's not a choking hazard or requires lots of chewing. yahoo! i always want to eat what's on everyone else's plates, so this will be fun!

when we got home we found out that my blood test was all good - i had one earlier this year that showed low iron levels, but i was also sick today. the lead (reason for the test) was fine, and iron levels were back up to normal.

today mommy told daycare as long as it can be mashed or cut tiny, i can have it. they gave me some mac-n-cheese and chicken nuggets. i loved 'em all!! then when mommy got home after a massage that she didn't know was cancelled :(, i had some of her curry noodles! i was hungry! i had my bath and then some cereal and pears/blueberries. then i had me some mommy milk and fell asleep. mommy and daddy are hoping i sleep lots tonight! maybe more food is the answer!

good checkup at the doctor

last night for supper we had some pa-sghetti. i mostly played with it, but tried a few pieces.

today i had to go see doctor S again. at my 9-mo appointment (when i was 10 mo old), she said she wanted me to come back in to keep an eye on my weight. i was sick a lot in december, and didn't feel like eating very much at a time, so i wasn't keeping up with my growth curve. And, as much as i move, mommy and daddy aren't too concerned. today doc said i'm fine - i gained weight since last time, and am officially over 20 lbs!! look how big i am! (i also need a haircut very badly.)

doc S also said one of my ears cleared up, but the other still has some fluid in it :( she said right now, she doesn't think i need to go see an ENT or get my hearing checked yet, so that's good. she is hoping the warmer weather that's on its way will keep colds and viruses (and ear infections) at bay. as long as we have 12 weeks without an ear infection, we should be good, and then i'll hopefully grow out of them!

doctor S also said i'm pretty cute. and sees lots of babies so she's the expert, right? ;) i showed off how well i can walk and share. let's just say she was impressed. i have to go back to see her in 1 month, for my 1-year appointment. i'll probably be up to no good by then!

tonight mommy made me some corn and pureed it nice and smooth. i tried it and wasn't sure what to think. but i didn't make the same faces like i do with most first bites :)

i've also been getting into lots of mischief, and have been quite the goofball, especially tonight.

skinny mini 10-month-old

today i had my 9-mo check-up (yes, my doctor is that popular, this is the soonest after 9-mo that we could get in!). i am doing pretty well, but dr. S. said i could stand to gain a little weight. i am 19.2 oz (16.42%) and 29.5" long/tall (73.94%). my head is 45.2 cm (35.41%).

the good news is i didn't have to get any shots today!

mommy said i don't eat very much in a sitting. so doc said we could try some cereal at night and introducing lots of new foods (not all at once, of course). so mommy and daddy are going to try lots of new stuff at home so i will pig out at daycare :)

here i am trying some peach-flavored yogurt melts. i'm not a fan - can you tell?

Mommy also made sure to tell Dr. S. that i don't sit still much...i like to do laps on my car. most of the time i push it, but sometimes i like to sit and just bounce and make noise.

6-mo checkup

today i had my 6-month checkup. i...

• have a 43 cm round head (21.61 percentile)
• am 27" long (only 60.69 percentile)
• weigh 18 lbs (49.88 percentile)
• can have veggies!! since my weight gain has slowed down
• got FOUR shots today :( including my first flu shot. So did mommy and daddy (they got just the flu shot, not four)
• LOVE to bounce and stand up
• can almost sit up on my own, as long as you don't put anything i want in my sight, otherwise i'll reach for it, and fall over
• babble lots - i say "ba, ma, da," but, of course, nothing with meaning yet...or that anyone can understand
• spit more
• can grab for and move an object from hand to hand...especially my nuk, a remote, or a rattle
• am perfecting my army crawl - and getting pretty fast. Watch out, wrigley!
• Shriek, especially when extra happy, frustrated or ready for a new activity :) (Stay tuned - mommy will take and post a video later)
• love cords and computers
• like to be read to
• like door stops, just like wrigley. Although, also just like wrigley, this was a one-time occurrence.

• love michael bublé - as soon as mommy turns on his music, i calm down.

4-mo check up

this morning i woke up at 1 and was not happy at all. mommy changed me and then tried to feed me but i still wasn't happy. then she told daddy to get the orajel. they rubbed some on my gums and i calmed down. guess we'll find out soon if my teeth are coming in!

today daddy took me to daycare again. i got to see him earlier than usual because he had to take me to the doctor. Doctor S was nice to me. she said i can have some rice cereal for a while, if i want it. then when i turn 6 months old, i can start other foods, like squash, sweet potato, carrots, etc. yumm!!!

Here are my stats:

16# 2 oz (64.93%) I'm starting to thin out...but you wouldn't be able to tell from my couple chins :) and my milk belly every once in a while. Daddy thinks the scale is broken because i feel heavier than 16#!

I got THREE shots today and had to take an oral vaccine. Nurse Kathy tricked me again for the oral one...mommy was in on it too. shame on her! Then they brought in another nurse to hold down my legs, mommy held my arms and daddy distracted me while the nurse stuck me in the leg. Look at the damage she did!

can you see my heart bandaids? i screamed for a little bit - can you blame me? i was MAD at kathy. But then mommy picked me up and cuddled me for a bit and i was fine. you'd never know i had gotten shots, except that i was a little more mellow at home. i wasn't any more cranky - lucky for mommy and daddy :) we'll see how i do tomorrow - last time i got my shots i was kind of clingy - just wanted to cuddle mommy all day.

2-month appt

Today I had my 2-mo checkup with Dr. S. The doctor was very busy, so we had to wait for a while. But that's okay - i just fell asleep on daddy after they measured me. Can you believe at 2 months, i'm already 13 lbs, 6 oz, and 24.25" long?? The doctor was nice to me for most of the appointment. She told mommy to help with my dry scalp she can put baby oil on before my bath. we'll see what i think of that.

Then Dr. S. said goodbye, and sent nurse Kathy in....now *she* was the mean one. She brought in some medicine for me. I had to get 3 shots and an oral vaccine. i didn't like the oral vaccine and kept crying, hoping they wouldn't make me take it. instead they stuck my pacifier in my mouth and tricked me by dripping in the liquid! Then mommy held my hands, and another nurse came in and held my legs, and they stuck me 3 times - once in one leg, and 2 in the other!!! i was NOT happy! the rest of the day i was just whiny and wanted either mommy to hold me or to sit in my swing. if i got either of those things, i was happy as a clam. i even slept on mommy some.
