nordic fest fun

Before we start in on my Nordic adventures, i have to share another mischief photo with you. This is now why there is a baby gate in the bathroom - i can open the sliding door all by myself!






this weekend i went to grandma's for Nordic Fest. although it was extra hot and sticky (the norm for this weekend every single year), i had lots of fun.

grandma had my pool all ready for me, and i wasted no time getting in.

i ate lefse, tried some rommegrot, and devoured some local Harrington sweet corn. i also was very insistent on feeding myself, especially with applesauce and pancakes. i am pretty good at using a spoon.










we also went to the parade on saturday morning - i was very tired, but loved watching all the parade people. i waved at all the farmers driving tractors, and told them "buh-bye." this evening i did some finger painting and had another smoothie pop mimi made for me.


this morning we went to see the fishies at the hatchery. i loved watching the fish jump and wanted to jump in with them! we also spotted the famous eagles from the eagle cam. grandma told me the little birdies have all flown coop, so they are going to turn off the cam until next eagle-mating season.

mommy had some yummy veggies to use up, so we made salmon and zucchini packets tonight. she decided to add some carrots, and that was a good choice, because i really liked the zucchini, and didn't leave any for her :)

last week we got some sweet corn from our CSA - 6 yummy cobs! i love corn!

We also got 2 green peppers, 1 chinese eggplant (which mommy made some yummy parmesan with - i loved it!), 6 MORE zucchini, 5 MORE cucumbers, another head of lettuce, a pint of cherry tomatoes, lots more carrots and green beans, and a head of garlic.

this weekend we went to chicago to see lots of family. saturday i got to stay home with grandma and grandpa saillard while mommy and daddy went to see the last harry potter movie. when they got home i showed grandma and grandpa how much i like to eat corn on the cob.

on sunday i got to see lots more people, and ate some more yummy food. my great aunt Laura and great uncles Jim and bob came, aunt Tracy and uncle Dave, and Lauren and Vince came too. i was a little shy, but i warmed up to everyone and told them lots of stories, and showed them how well i can throw my new ball from Aunt Laura.

i'm a little daredevil

well, i haven't really done much this week. but, mommy and daddy did book our final place for our trip to Europe in September.

although, i did show mommy how daring i am getting. today she had to take my little tykes car away because i wanted to crawl out the back window. and then i was trying to get my sippy full of water off the (not turned on) stove, so i used the handle on the drawer beneath it and started climbing! i've been too fast, so some time i'm sure we'll get a picture before i get scolded ;)

we've also been more adventurous in our food endeavors. our CSA farm has been providing lots of yummy veggies. and i mean lots. last week, we got 7 zucchini! mommy made some zucchini fritters, and today i was finally awake to eat one - it was really yummy.

Yesterday daddy's work had a big picnic for all the families to go to. we had steak and lobster, and i had some corn and a hot dog! it was all very yummy. They had a construction equipment "petting zoo" and a real petting zoo. i was in awe of the chickens and ducks!

growth spurt?

early this summer we went to the zoo and mommy took some photos of all the animals to hang in my room. as soon as i knew what a bear was, they all turned into bears. :) this week mommy told me one of them is really a tiger. wouldn't you know, they all turned into "ga-gas" :)

yesterday we went out for brunch with grandma and grandpa. i had some of everyone's food - grandma had some nummy eggs and mommy had some nummy potatoes and crepes. then we went back to the whippy dip again for an ice cream cone. i love ice cream!

when we got home i was really excited to see daddy. he bought me lots of hummus, and couldn't feed it to me fast enough. i banged on my high chair and said "ma ma ma ma" for "more more more"

tonight for supper, i had some butternut squash bisque, apricot fruit, some banana bread AND some of mommy's pasta. then before bed, i had some mommy milk and passed out before 7:30. daddy thinks i'm going through a bit of a growth spurt.

this week i showed mommy and daddy a new trick. i can climb up onto the couch all by myself now! how else am i going to get the remote? :)

today mommy and i went to grandma and grandpa's. when we got there, there was a swimming pool and my own golf clubs waiting for me. first we had some grilled cheese, and i changed into my swim diaper and splashed away! then i had some yummy smoothie-pops grandma had made - they had all my favorites - mangoes, blueberries and bananas. i ate what totaled 2 of them (and grandma froze the rest for later)!

 

i played peek-a-book with papa and then went to look for mimi in the house - she's coming!

we talked to daddy for a bit on the computer and showed him the pool.

then we went out for supper - i had some of grandpa's very yummy noodles with olive oil and kept asking for more. i even banged my highchair a couple times because grandpa was not fast enough! after we were done eating, i went to climb on the picnic tables. i was very brave.

for dessert, we went to the whippy dip for some ice cream. it was super yummy! i insisted on feeding myself with a spoon from the cone.


i also told grandma and grandpa all the new words i can say (some form of):
* Hi! (or hi?)
* more ("mai")
* banana ("nana")
* baby
* all gone ("all gum")

Happy early 4th!

I've learned how to do many things the past few days. Among them, brushing my teeth and cooking :)

I'm also a pro at using the computer. I like to climb up the stairs and peek through the rails.

Mommy and i got an early start to the weekend. I had been working on a fever thurs and fri, and by 3:00 friday it had reached 101, which means pick-up is required at daycare. mommy is hoping it's my molars, especially because i didn't have any other symptoms, like pulling at my ears.

i'm starting to sleep through longer stretches at night, and if mommy or daddy has to get up with me, they either have to help me find my pacifier or just rub my back. At daycare my new group only has one nap, and most days it's from ~12-2. This weekend, however, i've been taking 2 naps a day. mommy and daddy have tried to get me to go to bed earlier, but i never settle down before 8:30.

and today i showed mommy and daddy how easy it is to get under the stair gate. so now, it just stays open. if it's closed, i make it my challenge to get under. :)
